Most people in Pakistan, including gay men, believe that homosexuality or gay relationships refer to the establishing of anal intercourse between two males. This confusion may also arise because MSM activity (where men sleep with men without identifying as anything other than straight) is considered synonymous with gay relationships and also because of the fact that Muslim jurisprudential literature heavily focuses on male anal sex. Nothing could be further from the truth.
MSM activity heavily involves penetrative sex because they are trying to mimic heterosexual conduct out of sheer frustration, perhaps as it happens in prisons. However, such persons are not interested in gay relationships which go beyond a five minute sexual activity. It must also be noted that according to studies, 33% – 50% of gay couples do not practice anal intercourse. Of course most lesbians do not indulge in that act either.
