What we understand to be “feminine” and “masculine” characteristics are based almost entirely on our culture. For example, in Pakistani culture, short hair on a woman might be considered masculine, even if she wears flowery clothing, threads and plucks the hair on her face and wears makeup, whereas in other cultures, short hair or even baldness is considered the height of femininity.
